Stat of the Week
Week 17--
The STAT OF THE WEEK feature highlights the one stat contributing most points
to the victory.
Kansas City Chiefs--Cincinnati Bengals
Yds Gained per Play (8.5 vs 2.9) contributed
37.4
points to the
34-point win.
In the final game of the season the Kansas City Chiefs' stat of the week, Yards per Play,
contributed 37.4 points per game to their 34-point victory over the favored Cincinnati Bengals.
This data suggests the Chiefs could'a won by more.
Earning 8.5 YARDS per Play--league hi for the year's 256 games, RB Larry Johsnson ran
downhill all day. And QB Green almost doubled the average.
Before the coin flip Coach Dick Vermeil announced his retirement. This was his last game.
A Super Bowl appearance under his guidance at the Eagles was followed by a Super Bowl win at the Rams
in '99.
The Bengals earned only 2.9 yards per play. On both sides of the ball the
Chiefs' played championship football. For this one game this huge difference in the two
performance values contributed 34.7 points to Coach Vermeil's final victory.
For one of the Good Guys this victory was not a bad game to out on.
