2008 Season, YTD through Week 11

In season 2007 Ravens ranked 24th on Pct 1st Downs Pass/Att at 31.42.
In season 2008 they ranked 16th at 33.81, up 1.6 points per game on this one stat.
From 2007 to 2008 Ravens improved by 11.0 points per game on Winning Margin.

The Stat of the Week graphic below pictures the performance differential between the Ravens puny effort (19% of their pass attempts earned First Downs) compared to the hot handed Bengals' 54%. Three cheers for Cincy Coach Marv Lewis, young QB Carson Palmer and his fine receiving corps.

Baltimore Ravens

2007 Week 6 through 2008 Week 11

Pct 1st Downs Pass/Att

Cincinnati Bengals

2007 Week 6 through 2008 Week 11

In a game won by 12 points this huge differential contributed 22.4 PPG. Cincy coulda' won by more.

And you will note the Ravens' dark blue moving average line has not been above average (light blue line) in the most recent 18 games.

Patch this weakness any year soon and the Ravens may once again join the playoff race. This year they are not competitive.
