Week 5

The Baltimore Ravens are the MOST UP team in the AFC adding 10.7 Points per Game to their Winning Margin.

The stat contributing most points to this improvement is a measure of defensive passing efficiency (which combines QB sack yards on defense and D pass intercept yardage).

The stat graphic above pictures the close relationship these stats have on the Ravens' scoring differential. In the 2005 to 2006 seasons the winning margin (blue line) is in perfect lock step with the improvement on D (almost a perfect linkage or correlation).

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the AFC's MOST DOWN team losing 12.2 points in their Winning Margin. The loss of the "Bus" and the freak accident to QB Roethlisber swamps their stat profile in tsunami fashion.

Note how closely linked are the two stats, Winning Margin (blue line) and Points per Pass each season. The winning teams approach 1 point per pass attempt differential. The Steelers are a negative -0.07.

This will be a tough season for the Super Bowl winners of '05.
