Super Bowl: Steelers vs Seahawks

The most important stat separating winners from losers is "Points per Pass" (PPP). The "helmet" icon graphic below pictures the 32 teams and the relationship of Points per Pass to each team's scoring differential (Winning Margin).

In this 2005 season the four strongest teams on our Killer Stat (Steelers, Seahawks, Broncos and Panthers) all made the championship game. And the AFC and NFC Champions, Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks, rank first and second on this key stat and are Super Bowl bound.

Both teams have efficient pass offenses. One of our best measures of passing efficiency is Yards per Attempt (another Killer Stat). The stat graphic below pictures the two Super Bowl teams.

The Steelers rank 2nd in the league earning 7.68 yards per toss. They improved 2.4 Points per Game on this stat even through QB Roethlisberger gave up a few games to backup QBs. If he had played the full season It is possible the Steelers could have finished higher on yards per toss.

The 'Hawks' QB Hasselbeck earned 6.96 (6th).

In the Championship game last week against the Denver Broncos, QB Roethlisberger earned a huge 8.7 yards per pass attempt. The advantage over the Broncos on this one stat was a big 9.3 points.

Will QB Roethlisberger perform as well against the Seahawks?

If so it is the Steelers' game.
