Giants at Cowboys

The New York Giants' pass rush will be coming after Cowboy QB Tony Romo haunch, paunch and jowl. The league's most improved team, up from 23th to 1st on the pass rush, the Giants bettered their scoring differential by 4.26 points per game.

Yearly 2004 to 2007

New York Giants

In season 2006 Giants ranked 23rd on Opp QB Sacked at 2.00.
In season 2007 they ranked 1st at 3.19, up 3.84 points per game on this one stat.
From 2006 to 2007 Giants improved by 1.8 points per game on Winning Margin.

The stat graphic above pictures this rumbling, tumbling opponent sacks and sack yards improvement. For QB Romo to come out of this game unscathed we might expect him to turn to quick tosses to his walking wounded receivers, T. Owens and Terry Glenn. Both are feelin' puny. He will certainly be in harm's way if he holds the ball too long waiting for an open downfield receiver.

The Cowboys pass protection and pass play selection have turned on a red warning light for the Cowboys. Their weakest passing efficiency stat is sack yards lost. Falling from 15th to 28th exposes a rupture in their armour. This season it cost them almost 2 PPG.

This weakness is pictured in the stat graphic below.

Yards per Sack with Winning Margin
Yearly 2004 to 2007

Dallas Cowboys

In season 2006 Cowboys ranked 15th on Yards per Sack at 6.24.
In season 2007 they ranked 28th at 7.40, down 1.44 points per game on this one stat.
From 2006 to 2007 Cowboys improved by 3.4 points per game on Winning Margin.

Romo can scamper. But he is vulnerable. Where would the Cowboys be if he joins the walking wounded?

Using season averages from the teams' stat profiles, the electronic hardware projects a Cowboy win by 10. But in the dressing room before the game the Cowboys should armour plate Romo.
