49ers at Packers

This week it was colder in the northern parts of North America than on the surface of Mars. Can a California team win under these conditions? This Californian has to wonder how. But, the defending NFC Champs come out of what's become the strongest division in the NFL. The third (out of 4) team in the NFC West, the Cardinals, are probably better than some division winners. In the past, strong conferences like the AFC central routinely produced Super Bowl teams. It should happen this season as well.

Hard to find fault with 49ers offense or defense. On offense they don't throw too much, take care of the ball and limit INTs. They can move the ball on the ground. On defense they are tough on opponents' passing games.

Packers would have no chance without QB Rodgers. He's back from the broken collar bone, but will he be enough? The Yards per Pass Attempt chart below shows the Pack's troubles while Rodgers was out (note the 5 game winless streak starting with Chicago mid-season).

2013 through Week 17

Although the weather and the crowd are advantages to the Packers, I doubt they can outgun the visting 49ers. In a great QB matchup, I'll go with Kaepernick. Computer likes SF by 5.
