Colts at Broncos

Yards per pass attempt is the most important stat in the game. If we talk about the Denver Broncos it brings to mind QB Peyton Manning and their efficient offense, right?

But that's only half the story. While the Broncos earned a solid 7.47 Yards per Pass Attempt, 3rd in the league, they held opponents to a mere 5.28 yards, league's strongest. Combining the two stats, offense minus defense is our Killer Stat I and the Broncos are runaway league leaders. Using a percentile rank score with Denver at 100 the next closest teams are Green Bay at 82, Seattle at 70, Indy at 66. See our Killer Stat I feature for the full picture.

So the strongest part of the Denver game is actually their Pass D, charted below as Opponent Yards per Pass Attempt Allowed.

2014 through Week 17

Teams that lead the league on the difference stat usually make their way to a Super Bowl invite and the computer does see the Broncos as slim favorites to go all the way. It likes the Broncos over the Colts by 9 in this matchup, including 3 for the home field. Should be a good game with two great QBs: one young and one old. I'm siding with the computer.
