Panthers at Saints

We've already mentioned the tough NFC South conference, sending 3 teams to the playoffs. Two of which meet in this contest in New Orleans. In two meetings earlier, Saints came out on top of the Panthers both times. And the Saints are always tough on their home field.

On paper, the Saints are stronger by virtue of their league-leading performance on our key killer stat offense, yards per pass attempt at 7.55. Leaders on this stat usually make it all the way to the big game. Their weekly chart is below.

By contrast, Carolina lies mid pack. Both are mid pack on defense. The difference on the offensive passing game, in favor of the Saints, is enough to give them a big edge. Our computer pegs it at 7 points. I'd say that's a fair guess, given the Saints are at home in their beloved Superdome. Both teams had great seasons and this should be an exciting game.
