Rams at Packers

The L. A. Rams take on our Super Bowl favorite, Packers, at Green Bay. In comments about the Rams last week, we mentioned their league-leading Pass D; here we'll focus on the Packers.

Green Bay was the league's highest scoring team. As expected, they ranked near the top in our key stat, Yards per Pass Attempt, our Killer Stat-Ofense. For balance, they also were above league average in Total Rushes and that spells ball control. Their 3 losses came when they had trouble running the ball, pictured in the chart below (small bars).

This is a tough test for the GB Packer offense. They must keep up their balanced attack. Any early mistakes (like an INT) that result in Rams' scores could hurt the Pack running game, forcing them to throw into the stout Rams' Pass D, not an ideal situation.

Even so, the warm-weather Rams have been practicing in 80-degree L.A. and I think they'll find chilly Green Bay a little less hospitable. Our computer likes the Packers by 8. May be a bit closer but I'll side with the Packers as well.
