Bills at Chiefs

Bills mauled the Patriots and now take on the Chiefs in KC. Chiefs likewise hammered the Steelers. Both teams won big on pass offense, pass defense and the run game. What will happen when the face off?

Hard to say as this matchup pits strength against strength. After a slow start to the season KC is now in high gear and rolling up yards per attempt. While Buffalo were league leaders on our killer stat defense, yards per attempt allowed making them the hardest team to throw on in the league. By contrast KC's pass defense is none too stingy, ranking 22 in the chart above. They've got to stop a Buffalo pass offense ranked 14th on our killer stat, offense and a rush offense ranked 11. Chiefs need a good game defensively.

In last week's wildcard weekend features we charted yards per pass attempt for the Chiefs and the defensive counterpart, opponent yards per pass allowed for the Bills. That matchup will be big in this game. But the reverse match is too so let's look at Bills yards per pass on their weekly chart, below. It's a capable offense, they win when they perform big and even manage to win with a so-so performance. KC may have their hands full.

Yards per Pass Attempt - Buffalo Bills

Our computer favors the Bills on the road by half a point. That's after giving the Chiefs 3 for the home field. Our computer has liked the Bills all year often showing them as the prospective Super Bowl team from the AFC. It's hard to go against the Chiefs given what they've done in the last few years but I'll do it too. This could be Buffalo's year. What a game!
