Steelers at Chiefs

Last week in Pittsburgh the Steelers easily handled the Dolphins. This week they visit KC for a matchup that, on paper, looks close to dead even. For viewers, this may be the best game of the weekend.

In the wildcard game, the Steelers won the ground battle, rushing 35 times to the Dolphins' 21. A ball-control rushing game has been a strong feature in the Steelers second-half win streak as seen in the chart below, Pittsburgh Steelers Total Rushing Plays. The little yellow W flags denote games won.

Pittsburgh Steelers

2016 through Week 17

In the first half, a modest rushing game hurt the Steelers' chances. But they've got it in high gear now. They will need it if they are to beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead. KC is a team that does everything well: balanced on offense and defense with no serious weaknesses.

After giving 3 points to the Chiefs for home field, the computer sees the Chiefs as 1.5-point favorites. Should be neck and neck. The difference could come to down to one big play or it may be decided by the team that has the ball last. Too close for me to call; should be great watching.
