Vikings at Rams

The Monday night game has been moved to Arizona. Good thing, as L.A. County, my many-decades home looks like a firebombed war zone. It's total devastation over a large area. Surely, many Rams players have been affected. It's hard to know how they will play. Maybe their hearts won't be in it or maybe they'll play with extra intensity. Who's to say?

In any event, their task will be difficult. Vikes, in early season, were our Super Bowl pick. They backed off a bit, yeilding to division-mates, Lions. But Vikes put together a strong season in the toughest division in the league.

Vikings bring a stout defense, reminding us of the Purple-People-Eater days. At or near the top on all measures of rush defense they force their opponents to throw the ball. Which presents the opportunities they need to lead the league in interceptions.

2024 through Week 17

      Passes Intercepted -- Minnesota Vikings

On pass offense, edge to the Vikings, ranking 6th in the league to 12th for the Rams. Killer Stat, Offense.

On pass defense, also an edge to Vikes, ranking 12th to the Rams modest 23rd. See both teams on the defensive side of our Killer Stat, (Yards per Pass attempt) chart. Killer Stat, Defense.

In summary, Vikings look like a powerhouse. They face a mostly run-of-the-mill Rams team. Our computer liked the visiting Vikes by 3 at SoFi and I would give them back the 3 it gave the Rams at home. I see a big win for the Vikes. But my heart goes out to everyone connected with the Rams. From the players, to the front office and staff people, media and press, and loyal Rams fans, there must be many tragic stories.
