Rams at Seahawks

Rams, as a wild card team, just squeaked by the Panthers and then again, the Bears. In both games Rams showed a stat profile that was much stronger than their division-winning opponents. That's no longer a luxury they possess as they face their division rival, Seahawks.

Rams are strong, ranking 3rd, on our killer stat, yards per pass attempt -- the most important stat in the game. But the Seahawks lead the league. Killer Stat, Offense. Nearly a toss up.

On pass defense there is more separation between the teams as Rams rank 11th but here again, Seahawks lead the league. Very rare for a team to be first on offense AND defense. See both teams on the defensive side of our Killer Stat, (Opponent Yards per Pass attempt) chart. Killer Stat, Defense. When the Seahawks have the ball this bit of an offense-defense mismatch could account for the outcome of the game.

Rams will likely need to halt, or at least slow down, the Seahawks' passing game. While not weak on defense by any means, they did allow some big pass yardage to their opponents. That's shown in the chart below. A tough task, stopping Seahawks, the league leaders.

Opponent Net Yards Passing-- L. A. Rams

The L. A. Rams looked like a Super Bowl pick most of the season. As a wildcard team, they've made it to the NFC Championship. You could argue that these are the two strongest teams in the NFC, both out of the powerhouse West. For the first time in the playoffs, Rams have met their match. On away turf. Our computer likes the Seahawks by just 2. I'm with the 'Hawks.
