Testeverde-Led Jets Not Airworthy

Bud's Killer Stat, Yards per Pass Attempt, pictured in the stat graphic below, a key stat in the NFL kickoff game matching Jets and Redskins, shows the NY Jets QB Vinny Testeverde earned only 4+ yards per toss.

In the last 20 years 4 yards per attempt is a typical cellar-dweller performance. No team has made the playoffs.

Redskins' QB Ramsey, by comparison, outdistanced Vinny with a powerful 6.2 yards per throw. With his javelin throwing accuracy, Ramsey pinned the ball to each receiver's jersey.

In our Post Game Analysis, our Killer Stat, Yards per Pass Attempt contributed 9 points to the mere 3-point victory.

This suggest the Redskins should have won by more. Without 4 sacks and an INT it would have been much more.

Will the Jets make the playoffs? One game does not a season make. But the Jets 17 game stat graphic (above) shows that with Testeverde on board (first three bars in chart vs buf, NE, mia and last bar vs was) the Jets average of 4+ yards per toss and 15 points scored per game is not competitive.

The data suggests that without Pennington (see Pennington Loss Costly to Jets ) this is not a playoff caliber offense. If the Jets don't patch this weak key passing efficiency stat by week 4, they are out of the playoff race.
